Private pool and deck at Topsail Paradise in North Topsail Beach

Spring break at North Topsail Beach is quiet, mild and made for families: March averages highs around 62 degrees and April around 70, the beaches are uncrowded, and the ocean is still cool. That's why the best spring break stays here center on a private heated pool, and at Topsail Paradise pool heat is free and self-serve for every stay through May 15.

I'm Dipen, and I host Topsail Paradise, a North Topsail Beach house for up to 22 guests. Spring is one of my favorite seasons on the island, and it's a great fit for two or three families who want to share one house, so here's how I'd plan it.

What is the weather like during spring break?

Mild and changeable. Long-term averages from Climate-Data.org put March highs around 62 degrees and April highs around 70, with lows near 48 and 57. April is also the driest month of the year on average.

The ocean is a different story. It averages about 58 degrees in March and 63 in April, which is brisk for anyone but the bravest kids. For the full year at a glance, see our Topsail Island weather by month guide.

Why does a heated pool matter so much in spring?

Because it turns a nice beach week into a swimming week. On a sunny spring afternoon the kids can spend hours in the pool while the adults read on the deck, and nobody has to brave a 60-degree ocean.

At Topsail Paradise, pool heat is free for stays from October 1 through May 15. The heater is self-serve: you turn it on yourself with the steps in your guest guide, and no request is needed. I always set expectations honestly: weather and wind affect the water temperature, and it won't feel spa-hot. On cooler evenings, the 2 hot tubs are the warm option. Details are in our FAQ.

How does spring break work for two or three families?

Spring is when the house really shines for shared trips. Here's how families usually divide it:

  • Two master suites each sleep 5: a king bed with a private bath, plus an adjoining kids loft with 3 twin beds. That's a ready-made setup for two families with young kids.
  • Two queen rooms with private baths for grandparents or a third couple.
  • A bunk room, a double room and two more queens that share two full baths in pairs, perfect for teens and cousins.

The floor plan shows every bed, and our large-group guide has sample room plans. An outside elevator runs from the ground floor to the first and second floors, which helps with luggage, groceries and grandparents.

What is there to do around North Topsail Beach in spring?

  • Beach walks without the crowds. Onslow County's three free North Topsail Beach access sites switch to 8 AM to 8 PM hours in April.
  • Spring fishing. Bluefish arrive in spring and the first Spanish mackerel usually show up around late April. Our fishing guide covers the pier, the surf and licenses.
  • Parks and paddling. The Town's Richard C. Peters Town Park has a sound-side pier, a kayak launch, a nature trail and a tot lot. It's open 8 AM to dusk, and parking is paid.
  • Rainy-day history. The Missiles and More Museum in Topsail Beach is seasonal. In 2026 it reopened in April, so check its hours page for the 2027 schedule before you go.
  • Sea turtle hospital tours. The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Surf City offers guided tours by reservation only, and they often sell out. Check its visit page for spring dates.

Is Easter a good time to come?

Easter 2027 falls on Sunday, March 28, so Easter weekend lands right in spring break season for many families. Holiday weekends book first, so if Easter is your week, plan early. Our Easter at Topsail Island guide covers what that weekend looks like here.

How do we book spring break?

Pick your dates on our booking page. From October through April the minimum is 3 nights, and check-in is at 4 PM with checkout at 10 AM. You'll see your full price with every fee and tax before you pay, and booking direct on our site saves 15%. If you'd like to ask questions first, use Request to book and I'll confirm your dates.

A few quick notes for planning: Topsail Paradise is a no-pets home, it's about a two-block walk to the beach, and the optional 6-seat golf cart is available as an add-on (free for military families who book direct; see the golf cart page for pricing).
