Memorial Day Week 2027 at Topsail Island for 22 Guests

Memorial Day 2027 is Monday, May 31, and the easiest way to spend it at Topsail Island with a big group is a Saturday-to-Saturday week from May 29 to June 5. At Topsail Paradise in North Topsail Beach, up to 22 guests can share one house about a two-block walk from the beach, and the 7-night week turns a long weekend into the first real vacation of summer.

I'm Dipen, and I host Topsail Paradise. Memorial Day week is one of the first summer weeks families claim each year, because it's the unofficial start of summer and the weather is usually lovely. Here's how I'd plan it.

Why book the whole week instead of the long weekend?

Because summer stays at Topsail Paradise run by the week. From May through September the minimum is 7 nights, with Saturday-to-Saturday stays preferred, and a full week lets everyone settle in. The holiday weekend has the energy; the quieter days after Memorial Day often have the best beach weather of the week, with fewer people on the sand.

A week also makes the math easier for a group. Splitting one house among two or three families usually beats juggling separate rooms or rentals, and everyone eats, swims and plays together. Our summer weeks guide explains how Saturday-to-Saturday stays work.

What is the weather like at the end of May?

Warm and usually pleasant. Long-term averages from Climate-Data.org put May highs around 77 degrees and June highs around 83. The ocean averages about 70 degrees in May and about 78 in June, so the water is warming fast. Some people will dive right in; others will wait until the afternoon. Is the pool heated in late May?

Pool heat is free and self-serve for stays from October 1 through May 15. From May 16 through September 30, pool heat isn't included, so the pool runs at whatever temperature the weather gives it. The 2 hot tubs on the first-floor wraparound deck are there year-round for cooler evenings. If a warm pool is a must for your group, our spring break guide covers stays through mid-May.

Where does everyone sleep?

The house sleeps 22 in 8 bedrooms with 6.5 baths, beds only:

• Two master suites, each with a king, a private bath and a kids loft with 3 twin beds
• Two queen rooms with private baths
• A bunk room, a double room and two more queen rooms, sharing two full baths in pairs

What should we know about the beach on a holiday weekend?

North Topsail Beach has clear rules that keep it nice for everyone, posted on the Town's beach rules page:

• No glass containers on the beach.
• Fill in holes deeper than 12 inches before you leave them, and at least 30 minutes before sunset.
• Take your gear home each day. Items left on the beach between 9 PM and 7 AM are removed.
• Stay off the dunes and use the marked accesses.
• No open fires, and fireworks that explode or fly through the air are illegal on North Topsail Beach.

Check the rip current forecast before swimming; the Town's rip current page links to the National Weather Service forecasts. The Town also lends beach wheelchairs and a beach walker to people who need them; call the police department at 910-328-0042 to ask about availability.

Parking is simple from the house: the driveway holds 6 to 8 cars, and the beach is about a two-block walk. The Town notes that its public lots get busy on summer weekends and holidays, so walking saves you the hassle. What is there to do Memorial Day week?

• Fish. May is when cobia and king mackerel start to show up. Our fishing guide covers the pier and licenses.
• Visit the sea turtle hospital. Tours at the Karen Beasley Center in Surf City are by reservation only and sell out; check its visit page.
• Eat out with a crowd. Splash by the Sea in North Topsail Beach is open daily; call ahead with a group your size.
