Fourth of July 2027 at Topsail Island: Week for 22

The Fourth of July week at Topsail Island in 2027 runs best as a Saturday-to-Saturday stay from July 3 to July 10, since July 4 falls on a Sunday and the holiday is observed Monday, July 5. Fireworks are illegal on North Topsail Beach itself, so families usually pair a week at the beach with a professional show nearby, like the Town of Surf City's Independence Day Celebration.

I'm Dipen, and I host Topsail Paradise, a North Topsail Beach house for up to 22 guests. The Fourth is one of the most requested weeks of the year, and for good reason: warm water, long evenings and the whole family in one place. Here's how I'd plan it.

Why book the full Fourth of July week?

Summer stays at Topsail Paradise run by the week, with a 7-night minimum from May through September and Saturday-to-Saturday stays preferred. For 2027 that lines up neatly: arrive Saturday, July 3, enjoy the holiday weekend, and spend the rest of the week on the beach after the day-trippers head home.

Where can we see fireworks near North Topsail Beach?

The Town of North Topsail Beach's beach rules say fireworks that explode, make a loud report or fly through the air are illegal in town, no matter where they were bought. The Town notes that several nearby communities hold professional fireworks displays over the Independence Day holiday.

The best-known one on the island is the Town of Surf City's Independence Day Celebration at Soundside Park, 517 Roland Ave. In 2026 it was held on July 3 from 6 to 9 PM, with live music, food trucks, family activities and fireworks at 9 PM, according to the Surf City event listing. The 2027 date isn't posted yet, so check the Town of Surf City calendar in late spring. If it lands on July 3 again, that's your arrival day; check-in is at 4 PM, so plan an early dinner and head south.

Expect traffic and full parking near any fireworks show. Leave early, pick a meeting spot for the group, and bring a red or dim light for the walk back.

What is the weather like over the Fourth?

Hot, humid and beach-perfect. July is the warmest month of the year on Topsail Island, with average highs around 85 degrees and lows around 75, according to Climate-Data.org. The ocean averages about 81 degrees.

Short afternoon thunderstorms are common in July, so plan beach time for the morning and late afternoon, and head inside when you hear thunder. July is also within the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs June 1 through November 30. Travel insurance isn't required for our house, but it's worth having for stays from June through November. What beach rules matter most on a holiday week?

North Topsail Beach is busier over the Fourth, and a few Town rules keep it safe and pleasant:

• No glass containers on the beach.
• No open fires. Only small gas grills are allowed on the beach, and charcoal grills aren't.
• Fill in holes deeper than 12 inches, and take chairs, tents and toys off the beach each evening. Items left between 9 PM and 7 AM are removed.
• Stay off the dunes and use marked accesses.
• Sea turtle nests need at least 20 feet of space. July is in the middle of nesting season; see our sea turtle guide.

How does a big group celebrate at the house?

The house is set up for a big family holiday. The main floor has a full kitchen, a coffee and wine bar nook and seating for about 10 to 12 at the table and counter. Two charcoal grills handle the burgers and hot dogs, and a ground-floor freezer holds the ice cream and extra ice. After the beach, 2 outdoor showers out back rinse off the sand.

Pool heat isn't included from May 16 through September 30, but in July the summer sun does the work, and the 2 hot tubs are on the first-floor wraparound deck.

Stock up before you arrive: the Food Lion in Sneads Ferry is about 13 minutes away and busy before a holiday. With a driveway for 6 to 8 cars and the beach about a two-block walk, you can leave the cars parked most of the week.
